When I added family photos to my roster of offerings, it was because my heart is so passionate about the value of memories. As a mom, it can be so easy to move through life just trying to keep your head above water with laundry and dishes and carpool and activities. It feels like life is moving so fast, you can hardly keep up. Family photos may be the last thing on your mind, but they should be something you prioritize every year! Here are three reasons to book your session today:
- Kids grow up. This is obvious, but please, please, hear my heart on this…You will miss the way they smile when their teeth are missing, you will miss the way they laugh when they run, you will miss the little crinkles on the the side of their eyes when they smile. And they will grow up in just a blink of an eye. I recommend a family shoot at least every year (and some families do so more often!), because of the way your children change and grow so quickly!
- Family pictures are tangible: We live in a digital age, and it’s fun to whip out a smartphone and show off your latest snaps of your kids, but I encourage all of my clients to get prints and products made! There is something special in holding your photos in your hands, and being able to page through real albums with your children.
- Life is short: I know it sounds morbid, but we simply don’t know when tragedy will strike. I heard of a mom recently who lost her husband in a tragic accident, and she commented how incredibly grateful she is for the photos of their family during the growing-up years of their children. Now, she has them to hold and treasure and look back on!
