I love Sheridan’s entire session, but what I love most about it is the way that her personality shows in every single photo! I also wanted to take the time today to talk about how to choose your senior wardrobe. Sheridan has done an amazing job here, and it brings to mind some of my best tips for a senior wardrobe that shows who you really are:
-Choose flattering clothes and cuts: No matter which trends you are into (here, there’s a little nineties-grunge, boho fun and classic elegance), take into account the items that are flattering. If you typically don’t wear certain lengths or styles, try to steer clear of them in your senior session, too. I’ve seen seniors struggling to wrestle down miniskirts or uncomfortable in low cut tops or dresses, because it’s not something they’d typically wear.
-Think proportions: If you’ve got a looser top, go with a shorter or more fitted bottom. This will keep your lines interesting and provide visual contrast. It will also keep you from being overwhelmed by your clothing in images. I love the way that Sheridan wore over-the-knee boots with a flowy mini-dress…it looks classy because although the dress is shorter in length, the knees keep things covered and modest!
-Mix textures and styles, don’t be afraid to break the rules: With an elegant hair-do and structured black blazer/jacket, Sheridan opted for distressed jeans to keep things youthful and fun. This isn’t a traditional combo, but it looks adorable, because of the neutral color palette she stuck to that kept it from being too “busy” for the eye.
