The first thing you notice when you meet Claire is her amazing, captivating blue eyes! I couldn’t wait to get her in front of the lens. They were simply stunning, and she had a personality and sweet spirit to match their beauty. This senior is from McCallum High School, and she loves living in Austin, saying, “I love the art scene, live music and the quirky coffee shops”. She is very involved in her high school, and is active in the National Honor Society, the Key Club, PALS, and Young Life. As a strong student, she rarely has free time but when she does, she enjoys hiking, swimming, backpacking, and photography. I think she has a great, artistic spirit, and I can’t wait to see what she does with it in the future! When she was searching for a photographer, she was a little picky, having never been professionally photographed in the past. “I can be a little awkward in front of the camera because I am behind the camera more frequently than I am in front”, she explained (totally how I feel sometimes!), “so I will want some guidance at first on what to do and what looks good.” Her favorite and strongest characteristics are her “independence and organization skills”, and I’d add that her extroverted and cheerful personality is also a major plus!
Claire had a good idea of what she wanted, specifying she wanted something urban, modern, and with vibrant colors, so I set out to find just the right location. She is a native to Austin and feels very connected to the creativity and modernity that the area provides, and I wanted to capture that. She also had a beautiful fashion sense, and had lots of Free People-inspired pieces that were stunning on camera. She says she enjoys shopping at places like Alter’d State and Nordstrom, and that really was communicated in each outfit she chose…pretty, classy, and feminine! She adds, “I am not a super into- trends type of person, I have a pretty classic style. I do like the flowy tops with jeans and booties and I LOVE layering- think fall wardrobes-and that is my favorite!” Claire loved all her classes in high school, and is greatly looking forward to studying Public Health in college, at American University after graduation. She also dreams of entering the Peace Corps between college and grad school, and I mean, how lucky will they be to have this amazing young lady?? I know she will do so much good in her lifetime. Thanks, Claire, for allowing me the honor of being your senior photographer!
