Ryan has a great sense of her own personal style! She loves playing around with colors, and she chose a great array of outfits for her shoot. In the studio, we wanted to surround her with a cool temperature to match her looks, and her beautiful blonde locks were brought out wonderfully against the deep blue backdrop. We took everything outdoors too, showcasing her great black and white ensemble against the rustic blue of the garage door. Out in the landscape, her gorgeous red dress made a statement alongside the greens of the trees, and the natural background highlighted her own natural beauty. And one of my favorites, her pink dress with the hint of sheer really showed off her confident femininity.
Maybe you’ve noticed that I’ve been talking a lot about color in this post. That’s because color is one of the most important aspects of a session! There’s a good deal of things that make up a perfect shoot: the lighting, the location, the weather, the outfits.. but a color palette that’s both parts consistent and beautiful will do wonders, and if you don’t give it some thought, it’ll only hurt your session.
Because Ryan’s great complexion allowed us an array of colors to choose from, we picked out a variety of outfits that went well with each of our locations. The soft white top against the blues in the studio, the bright red with the subtle green behind her, and her violet top in front of the reflective glass each contributed to a unique mood. Each picture has its own vibe, and the colors of a shot will often dictate just what feeling it gives off. That’s why it’s important to be thinking about the colors of a session as much as, say, the lighting. But of course, often it’s the subject that’s most important, and in Ryan’s case, she’s the one who made each picture gorgeous! And I wish her all the best as she moves on from high school to all the adventures she has waiting for her.
