If you know me, you know I HATE summer, like if I could pick up Texas (because Texas forever) and place it up where Nebraska is, I’d be a happy girl. Which means naturally I have a mostly love, slightly hate relationship with Fall. Love because it means cooler weather is coming, all my fall fashion, favorite scents and flavors are waiting and I can wear all the layers. Hate because, let’s be honesty it’s Texas, and I’ll still be sweaty while doing all my favorite things.
Good thing for my senior portrait clients though, they can love fall and all that it means, and skip the too hot to indulge part. They can look and feel like a fall fashion goddess in their portraits, and no one is the wiser that it was actually maybe 80 or 90 degrees outside while in their slouchy sweater and over the knee boots. I wanted to share with you all my favorite fall fashion staples, to get you ready for pumpkin spice season. Keep reading to see the best of fall fashion!
Let’s start with Suede!
It’s one of those fabulous textures that screams autumn luxury, also known as fall fashion heaven. A suede or faux suede skirt is one of those staple pieces every girl needs in her closet heading into fall. You can dress it up with a salty top and over the knee boots or down with a fun graphic tee and adidas sneaks. I’ve linked some of my favorites below.
Transitioning from Summer Dresses to Fall Fashion
Let’s be blunt, it’s freaking hot in Texas! Our fall feels like summer anywhere else. Because the weather is so hot for so long here, it’s often hard for Texas girls to enjoy fall fashion without melting into a puddle of sweat. I love bringing summer dresses into fall, and adding a denim or leather jacket to make them more season appropriate. This can be done with maxi dresses to mini dresses, never underestimate a great denim jacket. I have a coupe of my favorites below.
The Color for Fall Fashion 2018: Red!
Deep and vibrant shades of red are popping up on every runway for Fall 2018. It’s the color to instantly give you fall vibes and there is a hue that works for all skin tones. If you have more of a warm complexion, opt for a deeper, more of a Burgundy shade to compliment your olive skin. Blondes, be bold and select bright, blue based reds to make those golden locks pop! Linked below are my three favorite apple hued pieces for fall!
