“Happiness isn’t something that depends on our surroundings…It’s something we make inside ourselves.” -Corrie ten Boom
Corrie ten Boom wrote “The Hiding Place”, about her time in a concentration camp during the second World War. Kalah, the stunning senior in these photos, says that is her favorite book, and this quote really reminded me of her and the way it describes her life. She’s such a joyful and loving young lady. When I was culling through these images, I could only think of how they reminded me of a perfect summer’s day. The light was beautiful, the joy was evident, and they all have such a breezy quality. Kalah has a mega-watt smile, and was so easy to work with during our session….a natural at posing, and up for any adventure with me! Kalah attends Hill Country Christian School, and enjoys doing things like playing volleyball, singing, surfing, and boating. “I think my friends would say I am somewhat shy, but also that I like to have fun and laugh, I like to try new things and get along easily with others”, she adds, “I love living in Austin, because there are always new things to do!”
Getting glammed up for your senior session is one of the best parts of the KDP experience (along with our enviable senior closet), and Kalah really enjoyed the pampering. Her everyday outfit for school would be a top, jeans, and sandals or heels, and she wanted a very classy and elegant look for her senior portraits. “My personal style would be classy and casual”, she shared with me, “My favorite pieces of clothing I have would be my denim skirt, and a vee neck t-shirt. I love to wear the color blue, and dressing for fall is my favorite season for fashion.” We definitely did a mix of polished and everyday outfits (I love the velvet dress), and did both studio and outdoor photos to give her the best variety for her senior photo needs. After graduating from her high school, she plans to head to college and pursue a degree in radiology, as well as skydiving and traveling to Iceland one day. Congratulations, Kalah!
