Austin is a pretty special place to live, and many of my seniors hail from the eclectic and gorgeous town. Most of them also, like this beautiful girl, love Austin because of it’s artsy and chic vibe. Meet Candace, a bright and vivacious graduate from Vandegrift; her stunning beauty is only matched by her intellect and heart! She found me on Instagram, and wanted a senior photographer who could do something different and more personalized. At Vandegrift, she was involved in the Vision Dance Company, the PALS program, and playing the clarinet. Outside of school, she loved participating in her local youth group at the Church at Canyon Creek, hanging out with her friends, and baking up tasty treats! “When I thought of what I envisioned with a senior session, I definitely thought about something fun and glamorous”, explains Candace, “I want to have fun, and also look bubbly and youthful. I also want something on the more candid side”. With her girly and bohemian personal style, I knew exactly what we could achieve.
We utilized pretty, earthy outdoor locations, and the natural light was perfect. Candace and I worked in tandem to put her boho-inspired wardrobe together, and of course, she loved the KDP exclusive closet. I keep it fully stocked with items from Free People, Kendra Scott, Nordstrom, and more, in order to give seniors that perfect look with high-end items. Many of my clients also bring some of their favorite pieces to mix in, and we apply the finishing touches before their shoot with accessories and hairstyling. Some of Candace’s favorite new trends include pastel colors, feminine rompers, and off-the-shoulder tops, and her favorite spot for new outfits would be American Eagle and Altar’d State (which reminds me a lot of Buckle meets Anthropologie!). She’s regularly inspired by fashion bloggers and influences like Aspyn Ovard and Kristin Johns. After graduation, she’s headed to Cal Poly or Baylor to study marketing, and hopes to travel to Greece in the next five years. Stay tuned here on the blog to see the rest of her editorial style shoot!
