Three Places to Find Inspiration for your Senior Shoot
Sydney’s images (below) were the result of a pretty amazing day working with her! She is a wonderful young lady, who is always up for an adventure. We knew we wanted a very dreamy, elegant session that included horses, but it came together even more beautifully than I had imagined. We utilized a large wooden arbor, and of course, we had tons of gorgeous fields to let our horses roam. The lighting worked seamlessly with what we had been hoping for, and voΓla! Sydney looked stunning in the several dramatic dresses we chose, especially that red dress; complete with elegant boning in the bodice and carefully laid ruffles all along the skirt (it’s such an incredible look!). I draw inspiration from lots of places when I plan my shoots, but here are three of my favorites:
- Pinterest: It’s a literal treasure trove of ideas, inspiration, and fun! In fact, I often have to limit my time on the app, so I don’t go too far down the rabbit hole of scrolling. I love seeing what other artists have done and achieved, and how they’ve brought new and exciting things to the creative table.
- The fashion world: I live pretty far from NYC, but fashion week is always a really cool place to start when I need fresh ideas for items to add to my style closet, or new lines/shapes to use as inspiration for my models. I love seeing things like the unique colorways that come out every year, and when trends change and move with the seasons. Keeping up with the fashion world also ensures that my clients are getting the highest quality and most current styling.
- My clients: I have found that the best source of inspiration is my clients themselves! Their unique features, such as the color of their eyes, or their hair, inspires me to find the best lighting, location, and styling for them. Then, I draw on the vision they have, whether that’s boho or modern, and I make it come to life! I love hearing about their hobbies and features, and figuring out how we can add them into their editorial or styled sessions!
I hope you’ll keep coming back to our blog for inspiration of your own! Whether you are a senior photographer or a high school senior client, there’s plenty to draw from!
