Not every outfit has to be fancy to look great. In fact, the casual look can be one of your best assets. With the right casual outfit, you not only will look fabulous, you will also have an outfit at the ready for a flawless everyday look! Of course, the casual look can go perfectly right…or horribly wrong. How do you find the balance of a great casual outfit? Here’s how (along with Natalie’s picture-perfect casual style):
-Start with great hair and makeup: Casual doesn’t necessarily mean sloppy. A great makeup look is foundational to style, and while that doesn’t mean you have to go all-out with a full face of foundation, it does mean to tackle the basics: foundation, pretty lashes, and a little blush or bronzer. Avoid things like a heavy, smoky eyeshadow look which can look out of place with a light, cheery outfit. For hair: clean hair, lightly styled, is the perfect combination. Think boho braids, pretty waves, or a loose, high ponytail.
-Nail your accessories: Don’t be afraid to don a baseball cap or a simple pair of sunglasses. These accessories can round out a very basic look and make it look more complete. If you scroll down, you’ll see Natalie in a baseball cap and a neutral outfit: a white blouse, simple jeans, and brown sandals. The Magnolia hat adds a touch of fun, whimsy, and style to something you could throw together at a moment’s notice (find the hat HERE).
-Pay attention to the details: If you try on an outfit, and you find that it just isn’t coming together, try changing something small: a pair of stud earrings, tucking in your shirt, or tousling your hair a little bit. Also, colorful prints go a long way, so make sure to balance out a pretty floral blouse like the one below, with a solid pair of pants or shorts, and no cluttered accessories. Here at KDP, we work hard to style your session (check out some of the styling below) while still keeping you looking like YOU…your unique personality is your true style!
