If you’re a Texan like me, you know all about the heatwaves and humidity! The heat and weather can cause issues with lots of senior clients who are wanting their makeup to stay put and look gorgeous. That’s why we have such incredibly talented makeup artists here at KDP (they really know their stuff!), who ensure that you will look flawless no matter the temperature. Nerves can also cause sweating, even for the most calm and collected among us. Here are some ideas to sweat-proof your makeup, whether you’re simply heading to the mall and brunch, or having professional photos done:
-Start with prepped skin: Using a smoother/pore minimizer can help cut down on the oil production when you are wearing makeup. This Fenty primer goes on beautifully and gives you an airbrushed look before you even apply your foundation. It gives you the perfect blank canvas and prevents makeup from soaking deep into your pores and causing uneven textures. The only downside of using primers is that they can really absorb into your skin, so it’s important to exfoliate and clean your skin gently when you take off your makeup.
-Moisturize. A strong moisturizer should be applied the night before and the morning of, in order to give you a really hydrated basis. We really love the one from Bare Minerals, which is free of harmful chemicals, and you can also make your own using essential oils and a carrier oil like Jojoba if you have extremely sensitive skin (you can message me about the oils if you need some guidance. Never attempt to apply essential oils directly to your face without knowing which ones are good for your skin and diluted enough).
-Utilize oil-free makeup: Makeup without oils will stay on better and give you a more mattified finish. High quality mineral makeup is ideal for higher temperatures and situations when you will be sweating. A tinted moisturizer is also a good idea for a lightweight foundation that will stay put, especially if you don’t like a heavier feeling. Add waterproof mascara and a lip stain to secure a look that will look beautiful, no matter the weather!
