As this gorgeous girl heads off to college (Baylor), she knows she will be missing her family and her beloved dog. But, she is excited for the changes ahead, and I was thrilled to capture this special season in her life! Meet Maddie, a bright and spunky senior from Regents School of Austin. She has a huge smile and a love of life that was easy to photograph, and even more fun to get to know. Academics are important to her, and she enjoys being part of the sports medicine class and honors theatre. “One of my favorite memories from high school was our trip to Greece, and getting to know the members of my class”, explained Maddie, “I’ve also really loved my rhetoric and apologetics class, which is about defending my faith. One of my favorite books is Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis”. She doesn’t have much free time, but loves spending what she does have playing the guitar, and volunteering with local non-profits in her community.
We did a mix of studio and outdoor portraits for her session, in order to capture her big personality! She is outgoing and analytical, and incredibly stylish. Maddie loves shopping at stores like Madewell, and her favorite pieces of clothing are designer belts and flared jeans. “I’d describe my style as hippie meets prep kid”, she laughs, “I love dressing for the spring season, and my favorite color is white, because it looks so light and elegant.” I thought her eyes were one of her best features; they are so stunning and really take the center stage in each photo. Maddie asked me for earthy, natural portraits, because she didn’t want anything overly posed or fake. In five years, she’s not sure where she’ll be, but she hopes her future will include diving at the barrier reef, and one day, getting married. For now, she’s off to college, and I know she’ll be so successful!
