Spring Calendar Announcement | Austin Senior Pictures | Kody Diane Photography
Announcement Time! The Spring Semester calendar is now opened!!!!Β January-April 2022 sessions are ready to be booked, but which month is right for you? Keep reading to see the pros and cons of each month of your spring semester…
First up January & February sessions. All the above images were shot in January, notice everything from crop tops to coats in the wardrobe. Generally, January temps are a bit cooler, but most days it’s still warm & cool enough for anytime type of outfit. Also, whenever the highs dip below 50, I always reach out to give the option to reschedule if the cold is too much for you.
Some Pros about winter sessions: your senior year schedule is pretty chill this month, there aren’t many things going on to schedule around unless you are a basketball player. The temperatures are mild most of the time. You are still shooting early enough to have plenty of time to pick out grad cards, banquet pics, send gifts, etc.
Winter Cons: Not every day is sunny, if you look above there is plenty of yummy golden light, and there are a lot of days with beautiful soft overcast skies as well. Not all the trees are alive, so I shoot around more cedar trees, to keep the scenery most lush looking. The sunsets quite early in January, so your start time will be around 1 pm on a school day.
Let’s chat about Springtime now, March & April. When senior pictures come to mind, that’s what a lot of people automatically think. Everyone thinks spring equals flowers, lush green fields, and warm temps, but in reality, that is a very short part at the end of senior year that truly fits that description. So, let’s talk Pros & Cons, shall we?
Pros: Like mentioned above, the scenery can be beautiful! The weather is generally warmer than traditionally winter months. You’re close to graduation, sometimes parents like to shoot closer to graduation so your senior pictures reflect how you look at graduation. The days are getting longer and as we move into the spring the start time for your shoot gets a bit later.
Cons: That beautiful spring scenery doesn’t really start until the end of March. Up until then, the grass is starting to get green while the trees are waiting to bloom. The bluebonnets are unpredictable coming anywhere from Spring Break to Mid-April. Springtime is WINDY, it’s nothing we cant easily manage during a Luxe shoot with Dannie there to help manage hair. It also rains a lot in the spring, so the chance of having to reschedule your session is there, springtime requires flexibility. You’re also on a time crunch, since you’re getting closer to graduation and need your pictures back as soon as possible.
