Finding the right hair stylist and/or make-up artist for your next special occasion or photoshoot requires a little research. Here’s what to look for.

1. Look through their portfolio, and ask yourself a few questions. Do they show only one style of makeup? Is it smokey eye after smokey eye or does the artist have a range of looks they can create? A good artist can create a beautiful smokey eye and bridal looks, however, a great stylist can cater each look to their unique client. Sometimes there is more talent revealed in a lighter application than in a fully glam face.
2. Quality stylists will display a list of testimonials for review. Read those, how many sound truly genuine and pleased. Are there clients who used that stylist for a job similar to your own? Even better!
3. Do they offer service assurances? Contracts, consults, etc? Professionals put these items in place to protect not just themselves and you. If you want a professional outcome, look for stylists who use professional methods.
